China–Thailand Telesurgery Marks a New Milestone in Medical Collaboration

A landmark China–Thailand cross-border robotic radical prostatectomy was completed with the Toumai® Surgical System, spanning approximately 3,000 km.

On June 25, 2026, a landmark China–Thailand cross-border robotic radical prostatectomy was successfully completed using the Toumai® Surgical System, spanning approximately 3,000 km between the two countries.

The procedure involved leading Thai urologists, including Dr. Wisoot Kongchareonsombat and Dr. Premsant Sangkum from Ramathibodi Hospital, together with Dr. Nantawat Siritanan from Nopparat Rajathanee Hospital.

Supported by real-time remote control and robotic precision, the procedure demonstrated the potential of telesurgery to overcome geographical barriers and enable cross-border access to specialist surgical expertise.

The project was also filmed and interviewed by CGTN and is expected to be featured in the programme China's Responsibility, scheduled for broadcast around the APEC period in October.

This milestone reflects the growing potential of Chinese medical innovation and further strengthens healthcare collaboration between China and Thailand.
