On April 21, 2026, the first China–Thailand cross-border robotic telesurgery was successfully completed using the Toumai® Surgical System.
During the procedure, Dr. Bhattrabhorn Petposri, a Thai surgeon, operated the Toumai® system remotely from Chengdu, China, performing a robotic-assisted cholecystectomy on a patient located at Nopparat Rajathanee Hospital in Bangkok, Thailand, more than 2,000 km away.
The procedure was completed successfully, demonstrating the capability of telesurgery to enable surgeons to operate across national borders in real time.
The milestone represents an important step forward in China–Thailand medical collaboration and highlights the potential of robotic telesurgery to overcome geographical barriers, connect specialist expertise with patients remotely, and expand access to advanced surgical care.
This achievement also marks another significant milestone in the international development of Toumai® telesurgery.
